I started keeping boas when I was 16, which was about 1989. I had one pet female boa I purchase from a local pet store, then slowly started adding more and more. I found myself with a WC dumerils monitor. He was the best monitor ever, and puppy dog tame from day 1. I started signing up for the mailers that used to be sent out. Boa Barn, NERD, Boaphile, and Glades HERPS. I met Peter Kahl and started getting in farm raised BCI babies by the 100’s. I was 17 and selling them for a major profit to every pet store in my area. Then I decided to join the Army, and mom was not going to keep taking care of animals while I was away playing in sand. So needless to say I took a long break. I got back into keeping and breeding boas in the early 2000’s, but had to have total spine fusion in 2008. I never really “got back into it” until late 2024. With the help of some really great friends, New Shed Serpents & Twisted Constrictors, I am pleasantly jumping back in with both feet with keeping & breeding boas and maybe a few ball pythons.
